My name is Ryan Smith. I’ve been creating and running websites since the internet was dial-up. Almost 30 years ago, I worked for About.com and then made personal websites. I eventually turned my love of photography and web development skills into a very successful business, Ryan Smith Photography, which I have been operating for almost 20 years, running on my own self-created and hosted website.
Over the years, I’ve learned the ins and outs of the Linux command line and how to set up and customize an NGINX server stack for website hosting. I know how to create the fastest optimized way of running a Linux web hosting server, which is part of why my primary website, Ryan Smith Photography, comes up so well in Google search results and has fantastic SEO.
Being able to code HTML and CSS was very useful in the early days of my business. Before I even started using WordPress, I handwrote all my HTML code directly.
